Our regular driver with 20+ years of experience, fuel, toll sections and pickup in Almaty are all in the quoted price; you don’t pay extra per passenger. National park entrance fees, ski passes and a local off-road vehicle, if your route needs them, are not included.
Round trip
The round trip is one price. The driver waits for your group on site for as long as you said when booking; if you stay longer, you pay only for the extra hours.

Kok-Tobe is a mountain above central Almaty and one of the city’s main viewpoints. On the summit, at about 1,100 meters, stands the 371-meter Almaty TV tower — a symbol of the city. Next to it is an amusement park with a Ferris wheel, a mini zoo, rides and cafés, and the panoramic deck looks out over all of Almaty and the ridges of the Trans-Ili Alatau. You can ride up to the summit on a cable car about 1.7 km long — its lower station is on Dostyk Avenue, next to the Palace of the Republic.
It is a city sight: twenty to thirty minutes from the center with traffic, which makes Kok-Tobe easy to include in a sightseeing program around Almaty — for tour groups, delegations, school field trips and corporate outings. Kok-Tobe on your Almaty route
Since Kok-Tobe is within the city, a visit usually takes a couple of hours and becomes one stop on a sightseeing trip. The minibus picks up the group at a hotel, office or school and gets you to the lower cable car station on Dostyk Avenue in twenty to thirty minutes. Many groups combine Kok-Tobe with a trip to Medeu with a driver or a walk around central Almaty — in one outing the group sees both the panorama from the hill and the mountain valley above the city.
This works best for groups: visitors from other cities, corporate teams, delegations and school classes. The driver drops everyone at one point by the cable car entrance, waits in the parking lot while you ride up and walk around the park, and picks you up from the same spot — nobody gets lost or has to figure out how to get to the next stop.
What to see on top of Kok-Tobe
The summit’s main landmark is the 371-meter TV tower, visible from almost anywhere in Almaty. The tower itself is not open to visitors, but at its foot there is a viewing deck with the whole city laid out below: avenues, new neighborhoods and a wall of mountains on the horizon. It is especially striking to come up close to sunset, when the city lights come on.
Next to the viewpoint is an amusement park: a Ferris wheel, rides, a small zoo and cafés with a view of Almaty. There is also a Beatles monument popular with tourists — a favorite photo spot. A visit to the summit, including the cable car ride, usually takes a couple of hours, and the driver builds that time into the waiting, so the group can head back without rushing.
When to go up and what to keep in mind
Kok-Tobe is open all year, so the choice is more about the time of day than the season. In the daytime the deck gives a better view of the mountains, closer to sunset — of the city itself, and that is the busiest hour: on weekends and during school holidays a line forms at the lower cable car station. In winter it gets dark early, so you catch the evening panorama by five or six o’clock, while in summer you have to wait until about half past eight. Tickets for the cable car, rides and Ferris wheel are paid separately from the transfer; prices and opening hours change, so check them before going with a group — especially if you are budgeting in advance.
Drive time depends not on distance but on the time of day: the same ten kilometers along Dostyk Avenue take twice as long in the evening rush hour as in the middle of the day. The road up to the park on the summit is winding, and there are few spaces in the upper parking lot, so it is usually easier to drop the group at the lower cable car station. Up top, at about 1,100 meters, it is windier and cooler than below: even on a summer evening a windbreaker comes in handy, and in winter a hat and shoes that don’t slip on the deck’s paving tiles. If Kok-Tobe is your first look at the city, the other sights usually fit into a three-day city itinerary.

Moving a tour group or a school class around the city in several taxis is awkward: the cars arrive at different times, get lost in traffic jams on Dostyk and don’t wait for you at the cable car.
