Almaty airport transfer by minibus

Almaty International Airport (ALA) is 15–18 km from the city center, and the drive takes 20–40 minutes — in terms of distance, it’s nothing. The trouble starts in the arrivals hall when there are more than four of you and everyone has a suitcase: the group splits up across cars, someone leaves first, someone hunts for a second car, and instead of a welcome you get a roll call outside the hotel. Terminal 1 or Terminal 2: where you’ll be met

Since June 2024, international flights arrive at the new Terminal 2, and domestic flights within Kazakhstan at Terminal 1. You send us your flight number when you book, so the driver knows in advance which terminal to go to and waits in the arrivals hall — where passengers come out after baggage claim — with a name sign. The first 30 minutes after landing are free, and flight delays are not charged.

Taxi or minibus: let’s do the math for a group

We won’t quote other companies’ fares — they change with demand and from app to app. It’s enough to work out our own figure. 20,000 ₸ for five people is 4,000 ₸ each; for eight, 2,500 ₸; for ten, 2,000 ₸; with all 13 seats filled, about 1,540 ₸. Then compare that with what two or three comfort-class cars would cost at night, and add what no app lets you order: a fixed price known before you even take off, a pickup by flight number, and one meeting point instead of three. For a group of up to four with carry-on bags, a taxi will be cheaper — the minibus wins when you’d otherwise have to split into three cars and gather everyone at the hotel in pieces.

Luggage: what really fits

Suitcases ride in a separate compartment, not in the aisle or on a neighbor’s lap — probably the main everyday difference from a car. As a rule of thumb: all thirteen ride if they travel light; with a large suitcase each, nine. We don’t give an exact suitcase count: thirteen cabin bags and thirteen big hard-shell cases are very different volumes, and promising “everything will fit” sight unseen would be dishonest. Here’s how it works: tell us the number of bags and warn us about anything oversized — ski and snowboard bags, a stroller, a bike, sports gear — and we’ll tell you in advance whether the group fits in one trip. If there’s clearly more luggage than people, it’s better to find out before you board the plane, not at the terminal exit.

Night flights, children and payment

A flight landing at 4 a.m. is no different from a daytime one: there’s no night rate, and the price quoted at booking stays the same. We provide a child seat free of charge — just tell us the child’s age when you book. You can pay in cash to the driver, by Kaspi transfer (a Kazakh banking app), or by bank invoice if a company is meeting a delegation: we hand over the contract and accounting documents along with the trip. We don’t take prepayment for meeting a flight.

If there are more than thirteen of you

We have one minibus and one driver — this isn’t a fleet, and we won’t promise “two vehicles for one flight.” For a larger group there are two workable options: take you in two back-to-back trips if there’s time between them, or find a partner minibus for your date when everyone needs to leave at once. Tell us the number of people and your flight number — we’ll tell you what’s realistically possible.

From the airport straight out of town

Some guests don’t go into Almaty at all. The same driver and the same minibus take you to Issyk-Kul, to Kapchagay, to Bishkek, to Charyn or to the Shymbulak cable car — without changing vehicles, with your luggage, at one price for the whole route. We go to Bishkek and Issyk-Kul in the same minibus: passengers cross the Kordai border checkpoint on foot, while the vehicle crosses separately and waits on the other side. Guests arriving by train are met by our Almaty railway station transfer. Pets travel on a separate trip: pet transport to Almaty airport with no other passengers on board. Drop-off for an early departure

The return trip is simpler but more nerve-racking: at 5 a.m. you can’t find a taxi for eight people with suitcases. We bring the minibus to one convenient meeting point at the agreed time — your whole group gathers there and rides together. An extra stop along the way is discussed in advance. You arrive at the terminal together and with time to spare.
