The whole minibus — just your group
The 13-seat Toyota Hiace takes no other passengers. One person or 13 — the price is the same; we don’t sell individual seats or tickets. More than 13 people — we’ll find a partner minibus for your date; on short routes two runs in a row also work.
Driver, fuel and road included
Our regular driver with 20+ years of experience, fuel, toll sections and pickup in Almaty are all in the quoted price; you don’t pay extra per passenger. National park entrance fees, ski passes and a local off-road vehicle, if your route needs them, are not included.

The price is for the one-way drive. A return trip, waiting time on site or a trip of several days are priced separately — tell us your plan and we’ll suggest an option.
Luggage: 13 traveling light, up to 9 with suitcases
Bags and gear go in a separate compartment. If everyone has a large suitcase or a stroller, we take up to 9 people; with skis and snowboards, 9–10. Tell us what you’re bringing when you book.
Payment: cash, Kaspi or invoice
Trips in the city and nearby are paid after the trip. Long intercity trips and trips of several days need a partial prepayment to hold the date, the rest before departure. Companies get an invoice, a contract and closing documents.
You can book a minibus from Almaty to the Kordai checkpoint for any date and time: a 13-seat Toyota Hiace with a driver, the whole minibus just for your group. The drive to the border is shorter than to Bishkek, so it costs less: a trip to Bishkek is from 90,000 ₸, and we’ll quote the price to the checkpoint right away based on your pickup address and time.
Kordai is the main crossing between Almaty and Bishkek: the Kazakh checkpoint “Kordai” and the Kyrgyz checkpoint “Ak-Zhol” stand side by side, and the crossing is open 24/7. It’s about 220 km from central Almaty, roughly three hours west along the highway. We drop the group off at the checkpoint, you go through passport control on foot, and on the Kyrgyz side you’re picked up by family, business partners or a local driver.
If nobody is meeting you or you have a lot of luggage, it makes more sense not to get out at the border but to ride with us all the way to Bishkek: the minibus goes through the checkpoint separately, and you get back in on the Kyrgyz side. We’ll suggest which option suits your plan and quote both prices.
The road to the Kordai checkpoint: Kaskelen, Uzynagash and the pass
We leave Almaty heading west, through Kaskelen and Uzynagash; then the road climbs to the Kordai Pass — it’s lined with wind turbines you can see from far away — and descends to the village of Kordai. The checkpoint starts right past the village. It’s about 220 km, roughly three hours if there’s no traffic leaving the city; there are gas stations and cafés along the way, and the driver will stop wherever you ask.
Nobody can say in advance how long the border itself will take: usually 20–40 minutes, longer on weekends and holidays. It’s easiest on a weekday morning. That’s why we plan the departure time around when you’re expected on the other side, not around what suits us.
How the crossing works if you continue on your own
We drop the group off at the checkpoint. After that come two posts in a row: the Kazakh “Kordai” and the Kyrgyz “Ak-Zhol.” Everyone goes through document control individually; children go with the adults. Once past Kyrgyz control, you’re in Kyrgyzstan: central Bishkek is about half an hour’s drive from here, and cars and marshrutkas (shared minibus taxis) wait at the exit.
The documents are the same as for a trip to Bishkek: citizens of Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan need only their ID card, adult Russians their internal passport; since January 20, 2026, Russian children under 14 need an international passport, and citizens of other countries need a passport. It works the other way too: we meet people on the Kazakh side after they’ve crossed from Bishkek and drive them to Almaty — to an address, a hotel or straight to Almaty International Airport. Tell us when you expect to come out of the checkpoint, and the driver will be waiting at the crossing.
Just to the checkpoint, or all the way to Bishkek
Going only to the checkpoint makes sense when someone is already waiting for you on the Kyrgyz side: relatives, a hotel driver or business partners. You pay for the shorter drive and continue with them.
Going straight to Bishkek is easier when nobody is meeting you, there are children or elderly people in the group, and you have a lot of luggage. The minibus goes through the checkpoint separately, the bags stay inside, you walk through passport control empty-handed and get back into the same vehicle on the Kyrgyz side, and we drop you at an address in Bishkek or at Manas Airport. We also drive to the village of Kordai itself and to villages in the district — Masanchi, Sortobe: to visit family, for a toi (a Kazakh celebration) or on business. Give us the address when you book; the price depends on it.
Kordai checkpoint: how the trip works
Right to the crossing
We pick you up at your door in Almaty and drop you at the gates of the Kordai checkpoint, where passport control begins. No hauling your bags from the highway on your own.
Leave at any hour
The Kordai – Ak-Zhol crossing is open 24/7, so we can pick you up for a night departure or time it so you reach the border on a weekday morning, when the line is usually shorter.
Luggage — as much as you can carry
Bags travel in a separate compartment: all 13 if traveling light, up to 9 people with large suitcases. But you carry your things through the crossing yourselves, so with heavy luggage it’s easier to ride to Bishkek: the bags stay in the minibus.
One price per vehicle
You pay for the whole minibus, not per seat: one person or 13, the price is the same. The drive to the checkpoint is shorter than to Bishkek, and it costs less.

Can you meet us at Kordai and drive us to Almaty?
Yes. The driver waits on the Kazakh side of the crossing and takes the group to Almaty — home, to a hotel or to the airport. Tell us roughly when you expect to come out of the checkpoint; if the border takes longer, the driver will wait, and we’ll discuss the waiting time when you book.
